Why on earth would you towerize a 2000?
It's original Desktop case has ample room for any upgrades you may want and is so strong you could use it to prop up your car while you changed a wheel.
If you're desperate for space, just tip it on it's side.  :-)

I can't believe it would be for aesthetic reasons, the case would have to be huge, and probably beige.

Still, if you do decide to go ahead, please post plenty of pics, it's always entertaining to watch.

Origonal case was damaged.
In my case, I bought an A2000 missing the top cover.

Sorry, I don't mean to Hi-Jack this thread ...

But I have 11 bay PC AT tower case that I started hacking
the A2000 MoBo into. For health reason plus I already have
2 A3000d's and 2 A2000d's I'd like to offer this hack to
someone interested in finishing it.
If anyone is interested .... PMail or EMail me.
I guess I could do spme pics if necessary.

Back when I worked at an Amiga store, I did a tower conversion for a customer... using the already mentioned Bomac tower. This guy was a heavy Toaster user, and needed more drive bays. What we usually did for those folk was to convert a PC minitower case into an external drive box, but this guy wanted it all in one case.

All my WinTel PC's have been big ugly towers, but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder :-) I like lots of room for lots of drives and goodies :-D

I have several old tower cases that I might be able to adapt. I will most definately post pics if I do it.

No, I worked at BetterMousetrap in Flint. I bought my 1000 from Slipped Disk though... and a lot of software from "The Edge Connector" in Clio.

I'd say, the only thing to worry about if you put it on its side is to remove the factory installed battery, because if it leaks, it'll probably leak onto your CPU card (or if flipped the other way around, the drives), unlike when it's flat. In that case it leaks onto the motherboard which is usually easier to replace/fix than a CPU card.

Cheers for more big box Amiga projects!

Now you can plug in there almost *every* SCSI drive-type device in there :-)

My battery is outa there... I've got some monster old tower cases, so I could have a Mega A2000!

I've got a spare old dead A2000 I can use for working out mounting the motherboard.

Whoo hoo! The ultimate Two Aught!

I'd like to do the same.

For the others, the reason for doing this is:  drive bays.

Instead of a tower, I was going to see if I could cannibalize some drive mounting brackets from another case and graft them onto the 2000 case somehow, then create my own case cover out of plexy and/or high quality plywood.

Too many projects, not enough time.

Yeah, you could have a ZIP drive, a couple of CD/DVD ROMs/writers, a SuperDrive, an Optical Drive, a tape drive, a CF card reader or two and of course many many hard drives :-) All SCSI of course (but not necessary).

I put an Amiga 2000 in a tower back in the day.  See posts:

http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=646

I found a old pc tower that was big enough to put the whole Amiga 2000 chassis inside and in doing that didn't have to cut any new holes for ports.  Worked really well.  Still got it out in the garage.
