Bvision
« on: September 06, 2003, 05:49:58 PM »
Hi peeps, How is everyone, been checking up on the site every now and again and catching up, jusdt aint posted in a long time,  Im working 12 hours a day , 5 days a week.  SO What with that and my GF, I don't get alot of spare time.  Anyway to the point.

I have been having problems with my bvision for awhile.  I have stripped my tower back to the minium I can and now I have jsut got the bppc 603e/175 040/25 and 64 meg or ram, with a powerflyer and of course  the bvision.

Anyway the bvision will  promote the 15khz scrrenmodes fien, but if u try runninga 256 colour workbench through it usint the pal driver, u get garabage.

If i install any supported version of cybergraphix, the machine freezes on the boot logo and the resets. Help me please

Which OS are you using? IIRC, cybergraphx v4 prefers 3.1 and above.

Is your BVision overheating perhaps? They do tend to get quite hot. I installed a heatsink on mine.

Failing that, I guess you need to check your software. Make sure your BlizPPC firmware is up to date and install CGX v4 (get the latest patches too). There are a lot of env variables and monitor tooltypes for CGX, it is possible that misconfiguring these is leading to instability also.

Also, make sure your Devs/Monitors drawer only contains the actual drivers you need. I have found that having the CGXAGA driver left over from CGX v3 led to a lot of instabilities on my system.

Other things you can try is to increase the stack size in your startup sequence. That's been known to fix some odd problems.

Also check for any old aga / gfx patches that mighthave got left in the system before installing the bvision.

also delete screenmode.prefs from env:sys/ it might be trying to open an illigal mode.  youc can set the screenmode up properly again once wb has loaded.  The bvision also does only promote the 4 color aga mode properly, its there just to see you through os instalation upto getting the gfxcard drivers up and running. its not ment for everyday use. so me sure to select a cgx mode as apposed to a pal mode.

Also latest cgx 4.2 is needed to work properly with the os39 bb2 update.

Have you installed WUP and using BPPCFix or similar tool? Here BPPCFix doesnt work with the latest CGX driver. Probably it is not cause but you could try.

And you should check if BVision is connected properly. When loose anything can happen.

I have taken the card of the bppc and reseated and connected it, it is tight.

I have tried a clean install of 3.0, 3.1 and 3.9, with various versions of cybergraphx.  I think there is something wrong with my bivion card, never had this trouble before.  I still have a cv6t4/3d kicking around, i might try that out, just to see if there is another problem with the system.

I will try deleting the screen mode prerfs though, sounds like a plan.

Cheers for everybodies input. will let u know how i get on tomorrow
