« on: January 10, 2009, 10:44:50 PM »
Just working out the cost to get a SAM system up and running. Below is roughly what I've worked out. Is there anything missing from the list that is needed/not included...

- Sam m/board and OS4.1            $1150aus
- MiniITX Case + PS                 $150aus
- USB Keyboard                       $40aus
- USB Mouse                          $20aus
- SATA Hard Drive ?Gig              $100aus
- SATA DVD Burner                    $50aus
- LCD monitor 19"                   $200aus
- Shipping                       $30-100aus ?

Hi,

I guess that looks about right, although some of the generic components can be found for cheaper than that. You might be able to shave off $100 or so...

Still an expensive lump though... and the main reason that I wouldn't get one - can't justify the best part of $2k on a hobby machine...

I'd (and this is just me!) prefer to invest my hard-earned wonga on a new x86 box to run Win 7 & Ubuntu! :-)

... and with the change, pick up some nice classic 68K Amiga gear...

Cheers,

Mike.
