I'm with you here, I have no idea what these various sexual euphanisms mean... It's like trying to work out what someone means when they state a time period using school "years"... Don't people realize we all went to different schools... And in different countries... I went to a private school in England, I have no idea what a "Year 9" is!

exactly i was pre national curriculm( nearly 32 ouch )   So to me it will always be.

Junior school - standrard 1 -4
comprehensive - forms 1  - 6

I have no idea what years are either  :-D

I too have been known to copy a game or two... That was very much part of the Amiga's sucess... But my childhood hobby of computer programing did keep my piracy down to the odd game that I never played much... All my favourite games and apps were purchased at christmas and birthdays :-)

My most regretable incident was almost certainly buying a BlizzPPC... It was nothing more than an expensive space heater and I have never really used it... I also have a BVision, so I guess at some point I'm going to try MOS on it... But there really doesn't seem any point.

Though I'm younger than you the archaic system in use at my school was unchanged for over 100 years... So I used the same system as you, with the Junior School forms 1-4 and the Senior School Forms 1-5 and a Lower and Upper 6th Form

I destroyed keyboard connector on my first A500 by using 'graphite spray' on it.
yes, those keyboards are not expensive, but all others are slightly different

also, used soda to 'neutralize battery leakage' which probably only made it worse (but fixed that after wasting a lot of time)

yeah did my nut in too, but apparently, year 9 is the year before the gcse years.
the gcse years being 10 and 11
12 and 13 being lower and upper 6th form.

anyway, back on topic,
thinking about it, it was fairly amazing i didn't cook any CIAs the amount of hot plugging i used to do. even scsi devices. i'm a bit more carefull these days though. its not like A500's are still in production :-D

i found you can reset a miggy by hot plugging the 23pin video port and getting it wrong by shorting one of the pins to ground with the plug shielding. even scared myself and got a blue spark one day, but the miggy carried on like nothing had happened. no speed boost or anything either though.. (blue sparks - mario kart, badoom tish...)

still took care grounding out static, but not so far as to wear an anti-static wrist strap  ;-)

My best guess has always been

1st base = klissing
2nd base - bit of titty grope
3rd base - warm and wet fingers
4th base - making the camel with two backs.

I guess the thing I regret most was back in the mid 90's I traded an A2000 Bomac tower I had built that was fully loaded (flickerfixer, accelerator, cd-rom, 2 floppy drives, etc.) for an a1200 that was pretty much stock.  It was just after Commodore went belly-up and they became hard to find.  No internet for me yet and the dealers in the magazines who had them wanted a fortune.  I just had it in my head that I had to have AGA graphics.  At that time almost everyone in the local club had an A500.  It was all that anyone could afford.  People forget or weren't there to remember how much most of the hardware cost back then.  It makes some of the insane prices of today not seem so insane.

This has been a nice, interesting thread.  Other than one of the regular cranky ones being a little testy, it is great!

When carrying an A500 downstairs to use on the big TV (when i was a kid) I dropped it and it tumbled and bounced end over end down the stairs before cracking open against the front door!

Very carefully put it back to together having opened it up to reseat everything (I've always been fairly technically minded) and happily it all worked fine :-)

I do remembered being both mortified AND terrified that it might be broken!
