What's the different' Between 3640, Revision 3.0,3.1 and 3.2
« on: January 07, 2009, 03:47:59 AM »
Hello All,

I've had many A4000 and two A4000T  with either 3.0 or 3.1 3640 boards.
But I have never seen revision 3.2. Both my A4000T came with revision  3.1.

So what I would like to know, is revision  3.2 the best. If so why didn't ESCOM put in there A4000T  instead  revision  3.1 3640 of the Commodore board?

Like to here ouyr comments.

Thanks in advance.

Here is the definitive answer, along with anything else you'd ever like to know about Amiga hardware as told by Dave Haynie himself:

I haven't ever seen a revision 3.2 that had 3.2 on it.  They all say 3.1.   What you have to do is look at the U209 on the board to determine if it is a 3.1 or a 3.2.  U209 will be a 02 on the 3.1 and a 03 on the 3.2.  So you may have had a revision 3.2 and not known it.

Yup, same here.  The 3.2's all say 'Revision 3.1' on the silkscreen.  I don't think there were any changes on the board between 3.1 and 3.2, so they never changed the silkscreen.

I'm not sure what you mean by "I don't think there were any changes on the board between 3.1 and 3.2".  We have already established that there is a different u209 on the 3.2 board that had several bug fixes relating to Zorro & DMA.  If someone is installing an a3640 into an a3000D it is a good idea to use the revision 3.2.

He means there was no differences to the PCB so they didnt change the silkscreen.  Just has diifferent/upgraded components
