Workbench bitmap font issue/question...
« on: January 03, 2009, 12:18:45 PM »
Hi,

This has bugged my for a while, so I thought I'd try and find an answer/solution...

I'd like to use a particular 8-point bitmapped font (Cyber1) instead of topaz for the Workbench default system font, but when I load of the font prefs, I can't see this font.

It's there for the default icon and default screen setting, but not the system one...

It's the same with DirectoryOpus 4 - I can only select certain fonts for the 'text reader' and a few other font settings.

It actually happens for quite a few fonts (ie: the don't appear in the fonts list) and not just Cyber1...

I've ran fixfonts and the font is available for use in prefs, it's just not selectable for certain settings...

I suspect it's some system limitation or perhaps these fonts are missing some characters?

Cheers,

Mike.

Yeah, the system default font has to be fixed width.

The list shows only fixed-width fonts, but you can enter the name of a proportional font into the text field.

However, a DOS windows with a proportional font looks really odd. And probably some GUIs will break.

Bye,
Thomas

Ah, fixed width? That'll be it!

Not much I can do to fix it, but at least I know what's up now!

Cheers,

Mike.
