Cocolino PS/2 Design Flaw

just thought i'd post that there is a design flaw with the cocolino ps/2 adapter.

i have an a600 and because of some extra plastic on the adapter, the adapter would not plug in all the way.

i had to open it up and reposition the device inside it's housing --- cheap plastic broke easily and i had to use a velcro strap to hold it back together. i repositioned it so now it will plug in flush with the 600's port. poorly designed.

but the good news is that it works awesomely

That's a pain.  I have one on my A4000 and it fits OK.  As you say, it's a great thing to have.  It's so much easier to buy a mouse from Walmart than to try and buy one from halfway around the world and wait 7 days for shipping.  :-D

I would not say its poorly designed it just uses an off the shelf plastic case that allows it to fit and standard computer port with a clear metal back plate.  As such it will plug into any Amiga except the A600 without problems.

I have two my self and I have to say they are every bit as cool and useful as my external scan doubler.  Definitely the best option for replacing the comodore mouse  :-D

yeah "poorly designed" is prolly a bit harsh...

ive never owned anything other than a 600, so i just assumed the mouse connections on the 500/1200 were identical. maybe thats not the case. it does seem that a simple redesign could accommodate all models including the 600.

anyhow, i did manage to get it working + dont regret the purchase at all

I'm familiar with that plastic plug shield, it doesn't fit an A1000 either.

One of these "port savers" would fix any 600/1000 user up.

I have a joystick/mouse switcher for my a600, so I just connected the cocolino to that.

I have once read that cocolino after some time burns itself out for some reason. Anyone heard about this?

I've been using mine on my A4000T for a couple of years now without any issue at all.
