I am back!!
« on: December 19, 2008, 05:07:44 PM »
Hi, all,
After 18 days, I am back.
I had been without Cable or internet (only the little bit I could jump on on unsecured networks) since December the first. That is all fixed up now.- not like many of you probably noticed.
It has been very cold here in Alberta for this time of year!
The average day time high for the last 2 weeks has been minus 21 degress Celsius, where the seasonal average is - 5. To those who what to discuss global warming, come live here for a while, then you will welcome it.
I heard Los Vagas got snow yesterday, poor people.
I have Amiga stuff for sale at http://amigalounge.com. You can follow my builds there also.

Indeed we did. I'd just moved into a new condo that thankfully has NO view of the desert and has been landscaped with pine trees - with the lights off the strip being obscured and reflected off the low clouds and the snow in the trees - from my balcony it looked like I'd moved to colorado for 24 hours.

A nice change.

Not much snow, just a couple of inches, but enough to utterly freak people out on the roads and make it hard to get around...

welcome back :)

nothing like a touch of snow for people to totally forget how the drive/walk/cycle :-D

actully, here in the UK you'd think we could deal with a spot of weather, but even when it rains a little bit, buses and trains get delayed and canceled. we are world renowned for moaning about the weather, in yet haven't got a clue what to do when gets a bit inclemment.

my favourite is "London underground is expiriencing delays due to adverse weather conditions." but isn't it, well, you know, underground?

"minus 21 degress Celsius"
aahhh, those times with decent winters.

At this end of the Gulf Stream there has been maximum of 20 decent winter days during the last decade. When I was a kid, cold winters with a lot of snow was the standard winter in northern Finland.  I remeber when I drove my new moped/(50cc)motorcycle 15km to home from the shop. It was -36 and I had difficulties with the engine oil that was too thick, some of the oil came out from the hole of the glutch lever like a tooth paste. And I had to dress myself like the "Michelin guy".

And at that time Amiga was in the mainstream.

Oh those golden times.

Now it seems that we only barely get white christmas. And my SAM is late !
I'm getting ready for Santa: :pissed:  :ak47:  :destroy:  :flame:  :quickdraw:

(I volunteer to give up some of the Gulf Stream to get Amiga back in the mainstream. :-D   And the warm weather is ofcourse the result of HOT x86 CPUs anyway.)

i was in Minnesota for three weeks business trip during February a couple of years back.
minus 25 degrees C, minus 35 degrees with windchill.
unreal. there was so much snow! never seen/felt anything like it.
so far so good you think. hit the slopes, break some bones in the half pipe. nope. its flat.
four feet of snow and its freaking flat.
still made me feel like a little kid again with all that snow. i just wish we got some of that action over here once a year. dayum that'd make those news reporters shut up!
Winter rocks when it's proper.  :-D

It's almost sad, but when snow hits the ground, people here forget how to drive and the accident rate just explodes. You would think that with snow on the ground for 6 months of the year ,people would know how to drive it, but all driving skill and common sense goes out the window when snow is around.
Still, if you own a bodyshop, the snow means big money.

In Belfast, our recently completed multi-million pound underpass just fills up like bowl if it rains too much!

Typical.
