Cheaper sam440?
« on: December 11, 2008, 09:43:26 PM »
Hello all,
I saw on sam440.com, the sam440 for 299 Euros, this sounded great for me, as I'm interested in getting an Amiga again (my last one was an A1200, when you could still buy them new). Unfortunately, that offer seems to have expired, and I was wondering if any dealers might still have that less expensive model, does anyone know of any?

459 Euros is a bit steep for me, as I'd still need to get disks, case etc.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Garry

Doesn't Amigakit have "new" A1200's for sale still?

Hi there,
I'm not interested in a Classic Amiga, I'd like to go small, quiet, and of course, PowerPC/OS 4.1. The Sam440 ticks all those boxes, The A1 would probably be OK too, but the very small size, fanless CPU, and general modernity of the sam is very appealing.

I emailed them a while ago, and this is the response I got:

----------
The summerfollies offer is over.

Also, we have no 533 Mhz boards at this time. We may build new ones in one
month from now.

Could you send me another email in the first week of December?
----------

I'm not going to, since I have already ordered the 667MHz version from Amigakit, but you could give it a try.  Maybe others have done the same, and they are considering another run for the 533 MHz boards?

Code 6502 asm or... DIE!!

[C64, C128, A500, A600, A1200, A3000, MBP+Mini, Efika/MOS2.1, Sam440 w/AOS4.1

Cool, I sent an email using their web form, but no reply as yet, I'll try mailing directly and see how I go.

Thanks a lot.

In an interview recently that said they were not going to be making any more 533 MHz boards.
Life begins at 100 MIPS!

Oh well, I've mailed them now, I'll see what they say, the full price is really a bit rich for me, especially as I'm buying through curiosity and interest, rather than need of a new computer.

Anyone with a board they'd like to sell, maybe to upgrade or something, let me know..

Cheers
