Amiga 1000 Filter Hacks

Hey all.

Years ago, I disabled the low-pass filter on my Amiga 1000 by jumpering across the audio buffer at U5G

I just found another method which involves removing (or clipping) C103 and C104 capacitors.

Has anyone tried both of these?  Does one of them sound "better" than the other, or do they have the same affect on the audio path, and thus, the same results?

I did not know there was a problem with the A1000's audio.  Can you describe it and/or why such a fix is needed?  Obviously I am not an audiofile, but I am curious about the problem and if it would be beneficial for me to duplicate either of your fixes to bypass the low pass filter on my A1000.

Later models (A500, A2000 etc.) could disable the filter through software whereas the A1000 required a hardware hack.  I can best describe it as taking the cotton out of your ears!

There was also a video hack that by clipping a resistor - the reds on the composite out were more accurate.  I used to do those to just about any A1000 I came across.  There should be references to both of those on the aminet archives.

If you have trouble finding them, let me know and I can try to dig up the old text files.

Yes, like i said, i have the jumper hack done, i just came across the other one (clipping the caps).  Has anyone tested to determine which one produces better results, or will i have to experiment with it?

And yes, i've clipped that resistor already.  I didn't notice much difference on the output of my A1000 to be honest.
