IDEFIX 97
« on: December 09, 2008, 02:42:49 AM »
Hello I was wondering if anyone in the US can send me an Amiga copy of this program.  I have an A3000 and need to get my SCSI CD-ROM drive going so i can update to a new OS (HDD crashed and need to reinstall on new HDD), but can't find my copy of it.  I tried D/Ling it from Aminet a numerous amount of times, but the Amiga just won't unpack it.  I would be glad to pay for shipping and the disk.  Thanks a bunch.  Cheers!!!!

It would seem that a program with "IDE" in its name would not be suitable for use with a "SCSI" drive.

(I know about the A1200/A4000 situation)

All you need with a SCSI drive on an A3000 is the proper driver "CD0" - even the Commodore supplied one should do.

But the IdeFix-package includes AmiCDFS that should get the SCSI drive working. Another filesystem to use is AsimCDFS.

CacheCDFS comes with os 3.5 & 3.9.

Nope. IdeFix includes CacheCDFS, other version than OS 3.5/3.9.

IDEfix will work on whatever controller the Amiga have: IDE or SCSI.

 That's a common noob mistake.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Thanks for the replies but I just really want a copy on floppy:)  I understand OS 3.5 has compatability and i have it, prob is i cant access it as i can't run the scsi cdrom.  And yes the ISEFIX is for IDE or SCSI interfaces on the Amiga.  Thanks for the replies.

@amigakid

My Amiga is in pieces right now but if you still need it next week I can send you a disk.

But, as mentioned above the Workbench 3.1 built in CDFileSystem should be enough to at least get your CD-ROM going.  Have you tried this?
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

And why not downlaod the trial version from aminet?

http://aminet.net/search?query=idefix

It worked great for me when i had exactly the same problem. Use it, set up a fresh 3.5 / 3.9 install and off you go!
