Mice with USB-to-PS/2 adapters on Amiga's?

Hey,

Sorry I didn't know how to phrase the topic question very well. I just bought a replacement mouse for my Linux machine, it's a cheap optical with scroll wheel. It came with a USB-to-PS/2 adapter (using the PS/2 port, as I'm out of USB ports...). Anyone use something like this with an Amiga using a Cocolino or similar adapter? I just really like the mouse  :-)  Secondly, anyone know if basic mouse functions work with games, without the need for extra software? (e.g. could I use this playing Syndicate via WHDLoad? I know the scroll wheel wouldn't work, but how about basic left- and right-buttons ? Thanks much everyone  :-D

Yes, it will work with a cocolino (or other ps2 mouse adapter).

In games, the left and right mouse button will work as normal.

I use a Cocolino with my A4000.
Great to use a cordless optical mouse when I browse, wheel function is great for IBrowse etc. :-)

Also, it works fine with WHDLoad games.

But.. Sometimes when I start my Amiga the mouse needs to be unplugged before it works. Anyone with the same problem?
The reciever are on my table, so it's easy to do it, but when I saw this thread I thought that I would ask..

I am using Cocolino on my A2000 with a mouse including a USB to PS/2 adapter. For example I'm using a logitech 831116-0000 (M-BT58) mouse. These mice are perhaps cheap but in my opinion quite good.

The Cocolino install disk installs some drivers which are not really required for the connected mouse to work but these do provide the conveniant scroll function which is compatible with many Amiga programs. I am very happy with this solution, a great product this Cocolino.

Do note that this kind of USB to PS/2 adapter (at least I believe so) contains no interface circuitry, at least no active electronics, but only converts the physical connection. This means that the USB to PS/2 adapter only works with mice which can support both the USB and the PS/2 protocols in one device. I believe that you only can use USB mice which are supplied together with a USB to PS/2 adapter as a bundled accessory.

I didn't notice any problems at all with Cocolino. It even works with holding down the mouse buttons at power up to get into and control the pre-boot Amiga menus.

Yes, I do.
Optical Logitech USB mouse with scrollwheel, connected to the Amiga 4000 PPC via Cocolino via USB-to-PS/2 adaptor.

They should work. Get yourself a Cocolino and you can use the scrollwheel as well...
