Been an odd 18 months
« on: December 03, 2008, 06:15:46 PM »
It's true, 18 months ago I was stairing at the abyss, I was working for a well known electronics chain in their warranty help dept - manning the phones listening to incident after incident of how the company had stuffed up yet again.

And I was getting serious issues getting paid, as a result the landlord was booting me out, it was a downward spiral that was leaving me distinctly depressed.

So the day came, my stats had fallen through the floor and was asked to leave, so, no job, and at the end of the month, no house.

Found out my then girlfriend was getting around (3 other guys, ya, that one stung a bit..)

Oh and did I mention no house...

So, I ended up on the streets, for four months I couch surfed where I could, and didn't when it wasn't available. Where I'd stored my gear got broken into and a good portion of my stuff walked.

Then, back in January of this year, just when I'd all but given up hope and litterally was on the ragged edge (I'd been homeless from Sept) a friend of mine's father came to the rescue, the man let me stop at his place, no questions asked and through him I managed to find a place to live. Seems that he was a very well respected man within the local Muslim community.

The man almost certainly saved my life.

I've been unemployed since, a fact that I'm not proud of, but I'm working on it. Even the UN won't take me on for going to Darfur heh...

But today, I'm 28. And I'd like to say thankyou to Noah (the friends dad, now also a close friend in of himself), because truthfully without his intervention, I wouldn't be here today to celibrate it.

Thankyou all for your time.

Blessed Be.
Blessed Be,
Alan Fisher - the_leander

Yeah, I've learned two things to be true regarding this myself:-

1. A girls itch must be scratched.

2. An erect penis has no conscience.

Happy birthday, Leander! :pint:

And consider yourself lucky with such friends. :-)

(though do talk about your feelings and thoughts considering this all you wrote, it's good for you)

I was in London with Noah about 5 months or so ago at a mutual friends wedding, whilst we were there, he got me a hat, I've worn it every time I go out since then as a reminder to myself of just who I have to thank for where I am today.

As for writing about my feelings? I never could. It would help if they functioned as advertised, mostly there is nothing and never has been.

That said, now I'm beginning to settle within myself, my creative writings are starting to take off again.

To hell with the advertised functionality of feelings. Really. I can't stand that.

Tell me about it, I just this minute got off the phone with my mum... Seems that her company, who deals with mortgages, is getting pounded atm, layoffs are on the cards, so naturally she's bricking it.

Aparently the base rate hasn't been this low since the 1950's...

As she put it: bloody yanks and their free market!

@Speel

I always listen, I just wish that she spent less time talking in random clips and utter nonsense  :-D

What an uncaring inconsiderate {bleep} to do that to you. You're lucky to be rid of her. It's best to forget that she even existed. No need to waste brain energy thinking about her when there are millions of girls out there more caring and trustworthy.

As for money, I have had many highs and lows in my life and I've discovered you can actually be equally happy with and without money. It's strange, but I've gotten more enjoyment eating peanut-butter toast after a day of starving than I did eating a $100 meal at a fancy restarurant. I've had luxury cars that were nothing but trouble, then discovered that having no car at all was a relief. (unfortunately, the same theory doesn't work when you can't afford an Amiga accelerator... ;-))

Tell me about it, but the all clear from the clap clinic and having found out since that she isn't/wasn't, I've never been more glad of having made it a point to only play with gloves on, so to speak.

I remember my exgirlfriend getting all manner of nasty STIs... And me being clean (again due to my insistance for protection)... Made me feel very good :-D

Girls like that are worthless!
