Is it just me or is it sold out everywhere you look?

@Amithony

They are all sold out at the moment.  Your best bet is probably to pre-order from a dealer selling them, such as AmigaKit.  I think next delivery is expected mid December.

They must be making them one at a time.

@Amithony

I doubt that :-)  But probably small batches.  I don't know how many.  It would be interesting to know how many have been sold so far.

That is a very good sign, if it is true.  Have you tried AmigaKit?  If I had the money, that is who I would purchase my SAM from.

I am sure the production run was very small, probably between 200-300, or  maybe up to 500 maximum, but if they sold out so quickly, I am sure they will make a second production run while the buyers are still excited about getting one.  It would be a big mistake not to have any available for the Christmas buying season that started in earnest today.

I think the SAM440ep is selling much better than the lesser priced EFIKA with MorphOS2.1.  That is a credit to Hyperion and the AmigaOS4.1 team for persevering through these hard times in the Amiga community and making so many improvements to AmigaOS4.0 because it appears that many owners of AmigaOne's and the other Micro Next/Gen Amigas are buying SAM440ep machines, not just those who missed out on getting the earlier next generation Amigas.  Not because the SAM440ep is faster than their AmigaOne's (because they aren't), but because they have some new features and interfaces and they are the next step in the process of moving forward with the AmigaOS.

Even though I am a MorphOS user for now (because I could afford an EFIKA, and AmigaOS4.1 for the SAM440ep had not been announced yet when I made my purchase), I am still happy and excited for all the SAM440ep owners and I am rooting for the AmigaOS4.x development team and their success.

It would be nice to have just one Amiga-Like next generation system so all the developers would be working together, but since it is not going to happen, the next best thing is to have third party developers writing for both AOS4.x and MOS2.x and I still hope that both systems will gain enough functionality to start attracting new Amiga (and MorphOS) users and developers.

We desperately need new blood in our community.  New blood, new hardware, new software, and some damn respect from all those users who don't know what an Amiga is!
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

They all appear to be out of stock. Maybe Acube should release a 1Ghz version :)

The only people who get to say what is an Amiga and what isn't, is Amiga Inc.  Sad, but true.

I don't quite buy that. Im sure the technology has changed hands enough times since Commodore to prove otherwise.

Then why isn't Sam440 being called an AmigaTwo then?

...because Sam440 is not an Amiga :-)
I mean, Sam is a good piece of hardware wich can run Amiga OS 4.1.
Amiga is another thing.
Inexplicable thing..
Could anyone do a thing like that again?!?
 :roll:
All things are doable in a better way, even those well done.
One can figure out the others......

I asked Acube just out of interest how large the initial run was and they replied

"We cannot disclose this information to avoid problems with our partners."
Amiga 4000, Warp Engine 040/40MHz, CV643D with scan doubler module, Tocatta soundcard, Deneb, 72Meg fast ram, 18 gig scsi hard drive.

3xA500, 1xA1200, 1xCD32

Some companies brag about their sales figures, others prefer to hide them.

It sounds to me like the initial run was a very small one.
If they had made them in bigger batches then there would probably have been a much lower price on them, and they would have sold more of them.

Basicly the manufacturer did not have enough faith in their product to make a bigger batch out of fear that they would not sell. Silly!
