Strange Issues on A1200 MX1230A and Indivision
« on: November 27, 2008, 02:11:23 AM »
HI,

Having some weird issues: Have an A1200 with an Microbotics MX1230A and an Indivision. Up till recently the Indivision was not working reliably so I did the sanding socket trick and that worked. Little to no distortion that I can notice. Be carefull with this mod.

I run Bloodywych Workbench with scalos. After WB loads I have to run a utlity that activates the ram on the Microbitics board.  After activating the ram, any icon I click on becomes garbled and quite messy. Ive tried a 8 meg and 128 meg chip, both resuly in the same problem.

Another quirk, lots of vector errors when trying to load WHDLoad games. These games ran fine in the past with my MBX1200Z fpu card.

I have WB 3.1 and 3.0 roms, ordered 3.1 roms.

Any adivce here?

What sort of RAM is it? I know old 72 pin ram causes problems like that when your using RAM thats too fast or too slow for the board.

Is it 60ns EDO ram or slightly slower ram? try getting some slower or fast ram into the board. and testing it.

Sack the "add-memory-alike" icon from the WBStart drawer and edit your startup-sequence to state this line as the very first line (no quotes!):

 "C:Setxa addmem >NIL:"

Change C:  to the appropriate path where you place the SETXA icon/program.

Garbled images, huh? Fire up SnoopDOS and make it save the log to a file in the HD. Check it/stop (Snooping) when the fux0rded thing happens. After, move the "misbehaving" application/program to the exclude list of fblit! :rtfm:
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

I turned off the FBLIT option in scalos as with an 68030 @ 50 mhz...Thanks no more garbled icons, except for the Microbitcs control panel.
Also adjusted the Startup sequence but my monitor drivers wont load and I cant run screenmode prefs... weird.
The addmem progrqam hangs but I get access to all my ram.

Will try the snoopdos options.

I read on EAB that the microbotics 030 card creates lots of interupts that generate the vector errors in whdload. Has anyone had to tweak their settings for this cpu card and WHDLoad?
