POS software for Amiga or MOS?
« on: September 02, 2003, 01:11:09 PM »
I already know the answer.  There are some prehistoric POS packages for the old Amiga era OS2.0.

I am looking for new packages. Something fairly robust, but nothing insane. I would be willing to pay some good $$ for a decent package, preferably MOS native. Anyone even considering programming this?

If all else fails are there any decent Linux packages? If I must use Wintendo are there any recomendations?
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Retail, small to mid sized.

I'd hate to fork out the dough for Quickbooks just because it is the most available.

@redrumloa

I've been looking for a POS system for MOS as well, actually.  About ready to code one myself unless someone else is willing to.
Try blazedmongers new Free Universal Computer kit, available with the GUI toolkit Your Own Universe, the popular IT edition, Extremely Reliable System for embedded work, Enhanced Database development and Wide Area Development system for telecommuting.

If you (or anyone else) do decide to write some POS software please let me know if I (or my company) can help with printer support, it would be very cool to have support for Star POS printers in a MOS app  :-)

POS AFAIK means Point Of Sale. Software that runs a "Till / Checkout" program in  a supermarket.

I believe there was a gentlemen, who also lives in Florida, that custom made several POS software packages for the Amiga only a few years ago.

To tell the truth though, I bet someone could make a killer Hollywood POS application ;-)

Check out Mr. Hardware computers, they have POS applications written in SBPro that *should* run on Pegasos and will run on Amiga.

Cheers,
Ron

It's possible, but the Math could be a pain in the butt. ;)  Hmm... Can you print with Hollywood?  (Hmm, need to go look into the docs).

Red: If you've got the specs of what you'd like to do, you can pm me and I can look at some options here.
