I've no idea myself, but luckily for you THE mr_a500 has just returned :-)

I'm not mr_a500... I'm just his stunt double. ;-)

Hi I'm new to amiga.org. just 1 small question, how can I get my A500 on the net via broadband?

Hi there. :-) It's good to see somebody else insane enough to get an A500 on the internet.

I'm still only using dialup on my A500, but I have heard of others using Windows as internet server for Amiga 500s. Check out this thread.

I was going to get a clockport adapter for my A500, USB and USB network and try to go broadband that way, but then I started to question my sanity...

I really need to do the following:

1. Mess around with my beloved A500 to see why the caps key light comes on and flashes locking the keyboard at the same time.

2. Send my A4000 motherboard to New Zealand to get the capacitors replaced and the board checked over. Will do this in the new year once the XMAS postal rush is over.

3. Actually find time to play and use the Amiga again.

4. Finish The Settlers. It's been an on-off affair for the last 15 years back when I was in high school. Ok, so it's been mainly off in that period of time.
Amiga 4000, Warp Engine 040/40MHz, CV643D with scan doubler module, Tocatta soundcard, Deneb, 72Meg fast ram, 18 gig scsi hard drive.

1. I've still got to use some really big HDD's

2. Have a go at using Compact Flash cards as HDD's

3. Buy OS4.1 Classic and see how different/ improved it is OS4.0 Classic.

4. Go through my Amiga stuff and get it tidied up sorted.

:)

Crazy thread necro, but its a good topic :)

I need to:

1: Get a laser printer acquired and set up
2: Get another couple of CF cards, one as a backup, and one to set up with partitions for Partitions
3: Finish Hired Guns before I die.
4: Open the case back up and get the keyboard secured a bit more. It slides about half a centimeter, which means I have to push it up to push the keys on the far left

For my Amiga 1200...
Not sure..  I just got an ACA1230/28 and I have my 4G CF card working and my Amiga is on the Internet and browsing....  So, I think just fine tuning the OS a bit for me for a while.  There's a possibility of a CDROM and Subway, but I'm still not sure about those..
I suppose the next thing I should do is grind the trapdoor cover down so I can put it back on.. ;-)  And get an eject button solution for the internal floppy..

For my A1000:
It needs TLC...
I need to (or get someone to) solder on new RCA audio jacks.
I need to totally strip down the keyboard, all the way as a few keys still aren't behaving and the basic cleaning didn't solve that..
Retrobrite the system...
Floppy work: it's still a bit dodgy sometimes and I don't have an eject button (I know, it's a theme apparently.. :-)
Decide if I want a HD solution.  I'm not sure...  Probably, but nothing too crazy.  I already have an Insider II, so I'm not sure if an internal (CPU mount) is still possible..

General:
Evaluate Workbench above 3.1.  That's the highest I'm really familiar with, so I need to look at 3.5 and 3.9, especially now that I have the accelerator and RAM.
Try to get my WB to look 1/100th as nice as Cammy's or some of the other incredible WB setups I've seen.  Mine is still pretty standard.  :-)

Amiga 1200 w/ ACA1230/28 - 4G CF, MAS Player, ext floppy, and 1084S.
Amiga 500 w/ 2M CHIP and 8M FAST RAM, DCTV, AEHD floppy, and 1084S.
Amiga 1000 w/ 4M FAST RAM, DUAL CF hard drives, external floppy.

Mine is actually a New Year's resolution too. I'm going to reclaim my study and set up all my Amigas, my C64 and ZX Spectrum.

I'll also be selling off 2 A500s I've restored.

I have a longer term goal of getting back the first computer I ever owned, A ZX81 but they are hard to score these days.

Patience grasshopper......

Nice music Tone007.  The connection ?

Had the same problem with one I was restoring.  Issue was in the keyboard pcbs.  I couldn't narrow it down so I replaced the keyboard with a badly faded one. Took a while to swap all the keys.

Quite a handy job that, at least if (gawd forbid) you snuffed it while at work they could just stuff you in the freezer and keep you nice an fresh, save a lot of hassle shuffling your corpse around... :)

Hmm... bet you must know the truth to the old saying "always make sure you wear clean underwear" :)

@ Franko

Thanks for the tip mate. If I am ever diagnosed as being terminally ill, I'll apply for a job at morgue. But then again, prehaps applying to be a grave digger would be a better way to go, as they could just push me into a hole I had dug :)

@ gertsy

The connection of tone007's YouTube video will no doubt be to the word necrophilia. Which, according to Wikipedia, is a sexual attraction to corpses. Yuck!!

God, 2 years since I posted and I haven't gotten round to doing any of that :(

Currently building up a 1200 and adding a DENEB to the A4000 though! :)
