UAE should be ported to the CRAY

UAE should be ported to the Cray supercomputer.

The monstrous machine is made up of 45,000 quad-core AMD Opteron processors. As a frame of reference, that’s a mind boggling 180,000 cores. And here I am getting excited over my dual quad-core machine. In terms of memory, the XT Jaguar is outfitted with 362 terabytes (TB) of memory or 362,000 gigabytes of memory; enough to load just about anything.

With 180,000 cores, multitasking could take on a whole new level.  It isn't without a pricetag because the base system runs around $8,000 and yearly dues to a usergroup run about $700 a year.

The Cray is x86 based and probably running Linux... UAE is already ported to it :-)

Of course just one core would be enough to run Superfrog at 100%, but out of curiosity, does WinUAE use more than one at the same time?
Anyway is the only way

Nope, the timing issues involved mean that UAE is not well suited to multithreading :-)

Nope, due to timing requirement of UAE, it is not well suited to Multithreading :-)

I've set up an Xgrid her at work that has 125 Macs in it (we're a university I have control over the labs in the building).  A quick calculation puts the number of cores involved at about 300 (mostly dual cores, a few single, quads and eight cores).  It's great for processing system intensive tasks, I haven't really pushed it yet, but it would be interesting to see what it does....

A colleague in another department has a mixed environment (PCs, Macs and various UNIX boxes.  He uses something called Condor to accomplish the same thing...

What we\'re witnessing is the sad, lonely crowing of that last, doomed cock.
