Setting up a Kupke Golem SCSI Controller A2000 *help*
« on: November 11, 2008, 09:40:30 AM »
I have found a Golem SCSI for A2000 between my junk stuffs and wanted to see if it is working.

http://i36.tinypic.com/10d8b28.jpg

So I disconnected my SCSI HD from my beloved A2000 and hooked this Golem SCSI Controller. On http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/search.pl?amiga=2000&cat=scsi#golemscsi2000 I have fond the installation disk but when I run the floppy it seems to look for a fast1.device and even if I do scan in the main program no one HD is recognized! I have tried the HDToolBox of the WB2.0 and 3.1 but nothing to do!

How can I fix this?

The HD seems to have power bcoz it's spinning!

Thank you very much!

I have the same scsi card, but mine seems dead. might need termination, does your Amiga even start if no HDD is attached?

it seems very old, maybe it doesn't work in KS3.1, can you try it with different kickstart?
I think we should try and find ROM upgrade if it exists.
Better sorry than worry.

Maybe I'm asking the obvious, but the amiga hardware database says the card has a disable switch at the back of the card. Maybe it's disabled.

What if you change it to scsi3.device and press Scan?

When you boot from floppy, and you start the partitioning program (Golem-Part), it looks for fast1.device. Change that to scsi3.device and press scan. The box where fast1.device is shown is editable.
The device driver name for the golem scsi card should be scsi3.device.

You might want to try to prep it with HDToolbox. Use the DEVICE=scsi3.device tooltype with HDToolbox.

Sh!t. Of course I mean the SCSI_DEVICE_NAME tooltype of HDtoolbox. set this to scsi3.device.
If HDToolbox doesn't work you might want to try HDinstTools.

Select the HDToolbox icon and select Icon information from the Workbench menu. Goto the tooltypes box and type in the following:

SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=scsi3.device

save your changes by pressing the save button.

Now start hdtoolbox. Does it find your harddisk?

Have you changed the DEVICE tooltype of hdinsttools to scsi3.device (check for DEVICE=scsi3.device in tooltypes)
If so after you started hdinsttools, select the drive and click the setup drive button. Report back what it shows there. BTW what is the size of the harddisk you're trying to prep?

Well,

if I go over informations and see ToolTypes I see a "," before DEVICE=scsi3.device .
I removed the semicolon and started the HDTools ,made scan and can olnly see PIC 0 TID 6 LUN 0  STATUS Unsupported.

I tried this with a Quantum of 128 MB and an IBM 4,330 MB!

PS: What KS are you using. Here I am using KS2.0 but in the floppy install disk of this Card that I translated few minutes ago( that is all in German ) I read KS 1.3!!! ???
