i am using the 68k version too with amiga os 3.9 and os4.0 classic,
and the morphos version at the pegasos.
A3040/25 AmigaOS 3.9
A1260BPPC AmigaOS 3.9/4.0
Sam440ep AmigaOS 4.1.2
PegasosII/G3 AmigaOS 4.1.2/MorphOS 2.7/Debian 5.0.7/SUSE 11.1
MacMini/G4 1.5 MorphOS 2.7/OSX 10.5.8
Long Live Amiga

If i am going to have bugs on my system,
at least let me keep the latest versions.

Thank you,

I'm gonna go with SFS as you all suggest :-)

I'm booting into OS4 on DH0 at the moment.

So basically could I just:-

1. Copy that OS4 install on DH0 to the empty small partition DH2   i.e. COPY DH0: ALL TO DH2:

2. Make DH2 bootable and choose to boot into that instead.

3. Delete FFS from DH0 and add SFS.

4. Reboot into DH2 and format the unreadable icon that I will probably get for DH0.

5. Copy the contents of DH2 back to DH0 again.

6. Remove FFS from the other partitons and add SFS to them.

Oh! What changes, if any, would I have to make to DH2 so as to be able to put OS3.9 on it?

don't change anything. it's ok.
the whole plan you have in mind is ok, just check if the DH2 is at the first 4gb of the disk, otherwise will not boot.
except if you boot with the emergency of 3.9 and continue working from there :-)
at the end, decide wich partition will boot first and set the proper boot priority.
don't forget to make a swap partition for os4. we will need it when 4.1 come to classic  :pint:

Thank you,

DH2 is well within the first 4GB. The command COPY DH0: ALL TO DH2: worked fine and I can now boot into OS4 on either DH0 or DH2 :-)

Use SFS 1.279 and you will be able to use AOS3-AOS4 and MOS without any problem

Where do I get 1.279 please as I only appear to have 1.277 to choose from in my OS4 installation, and can only find 1.277 on Aminet?

I've now booted into OS4 on the FFS formatted DH2 partition.

I've added SFS to the hard drive, but when I click on DH0 and select 'Format...' from the menu at the top of the screen, it appears that I'm just getting a FFS formatted partition again.

I've looked at my PFS3 IDE hard drive in a different A4000 and seen that FFS is hatched out and cannot be ticked. Should this not be the case with SFS as well?

Is there a shell command to SFS format a different partition than the one I've booted into?

(I want to SFS format DH0, copy OS4 back to it from DH2, and then boot into DH0)

I too, have gone back to OS 3.9 with my A4000

OS4 with Picasso96 is just to slow (Picasso is the problem).

OS3.9 with CyberGfx is LOADS faster at all gfx functions,
+ CGX handles multi monitor support correctly, Picasso gets
all confused.
