I think that maybe the original board died and was replaced by a new board or the owner bought this tower without board.

This is the right picture with the barcode from the mainboard.

A local AO historian seems to think it was part of the original 200 that was taken over by Escom and rebranded using the original case.

Very unlikely, you could check the date of build of the mainboard but you would have to remove the board from the case (the date code is on the back side) to be 100% sure.

IIRC my AT 4000T also has both A/V, disk and ports module that bear the Commodore label, thus I think that those modules in "Commodore format" are not that uncommon... the case definitely is though

It sure is a nice machine, but it is insane what sum a humble faceplate will add to the price (as it is the only real difference to the Escom A4000T).

I would swap my Escom A4000T for it any time but not at the price this is gonne fetch.

I would NOT swap it, because the front bezel is not original. It has been repaired with metal hinges.
If the bezel was mint (means unyellowed also) then I might consider it, but as it stands I value my A4000T more than the specimen above (not to take anything away from Red's auction, because that would be a fine Amiga for somebody to get, if they hadn't had an A4KT before).

I am sure it will fetch a nice penny one way or another but this auction should have been stopped and relisted as soon as it was found not to be an orginal C. The auction is very misleading.
