best dynablaster clone ?
« on: August 29, 2003, 07:55:07 AM »
Hi all,
I am aware of 4 dynablaster/bomberman clone on amiga :
Dynablaster :  the one I use at the moment, no option, easy for non-gamer but a little bit slow, no gfx card support
Dynamite : lots of option, play over the net only (or local), nice gfx and music, work on gfx card
MasterBlaster : multiplayer only, lots of option, no gfx card support
BlitzBombers : not used at all.
Are there more and which one would be the fastest easiest etc for people not used to play this kind of games.
Lio

I remember them, but I've only got Dynablaster for the Amiga.  I've got BomberMan for the PS1 (always play it on "Retro" :-D)

The version I remember the most is one that probably no-one's heard of.  It was on the Spectrum 48k (before everyone was going on about"BomberMan") and it was called Eric And The Floaters.  I still occasionally play it on the emulators :-D

Eric and the Floaters!! Now that takes me back!! Did you know that "Eric" was the original version of Dynablaster and was coded by Hudson Soft who went on to make most of the Dynablaster games?

You can download the full version of Blitzbombers from Aminet.
It's the best version I ever played on my A1200. I played that game for many hours with my friends.

I just *knew* it was the first ever "BomberMan" :-D

No-one I know has ever heard of it, good to see someone know what I'm on about ;-)

I didn't realise that Hudson made it (mind you, I never really paid attention), good to see that they're the ones doing the BomberMan games on the PS1 :-D

Cheers for knowing about Eric and the Floaters, Aegis :-D

Uh...no contest. DynAMIte is the best bomberman clone on the Amiga. Up to 8 players, network play, bots, RTG, AHI, system-friendly, loads of powerups, thousands of maps, a competitive high score system, teamplay...to but mention a few highlights of a very polished piece of software.

Dynamite is by far the best for Amiga. Nothing can touch it! Net play rocks. The maps and add on stuff you can get off Aminet is so cool. You have to try it out. I play it all the time. There was a thread about it here about six months back too. I just wish more of us would be online to play! It even works wih mediator and PCI cards.

Some of the old Spectrum games were truly amazing for their time - I really miss the creativity that was present in the video games industry back then - It was easy to take a risk when a game only took a few weeks to code. Other favourites of mine from the Speccy days include Stop The Express, Tornado Low Level, Cyclone, Ant Attack, Zombie Zombie, Sabre Wulf, Atic Atac, Chuckie Egg, Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy - OMG! There were soooo many great games (and an amazing amount of awful ones   :-D).
