Blown caps?
Corosion on contacts?

Nope and nope, the motherboard (and computer itself) looks almost like it just rolled off the assembly line. After sleeping on it, I am starting to think jumpers may be wrong. Anyhow, I'm going to button her up for a fews days. I've got some work to do :-)

Congrats!! I had a bad 3000T mobo too. Turned out to be a leaky battery. Did your battery leak at all? Check the traces near the battery and in the area.

Luckily, no. The battery was removed and the battery area is immaculate!

I am using your Promoethious PCI card in mine with a Voodoo 3000 card, runs great!

I agree, the Prometheus is a fantastic PCI board! I will probably use all 4 PCI slots (Voodoo, sound card, ethernet, Catweasel) and all remanding 4 Zorro slots (Deneb is a given). Now to get someone to trade a CSPPC for a SuperCPU 128..

What does it display when you power on?

Is this an o4o version? (Says o4o on the front panel)

Does the screen display any colours or is it grey in colour, almost white?

No it's 030 version.

No colors, as a matter of fact no CPU activity at all it seems. I hit the caps lock button and the light stops coming on after the 6th time. The last thing I did was remove the CPU card and set jumpers for onboard 030, still nothing.

Hmm, sounds exactly like my A3kT when it died.  The key assembly fell apart and there was one pin wedged between the motherboard and a zorro slot.  It ended up killing my CPU.

And the symptoms you have are identical to my machine when i would power on.

Is the power on LED also dimly lit?

Even if you try to use another CPU card, the o3o A3kT's still use some of the circuitry on the o3o to run a CPU slot card.

EDIT:

Here is the post of the issues I had with my A3kT

I had a heck of a time with my A3000T also.  I was able to get it working with an A3640 (mine is the rarer 040, not the common one you have) but had problems getting a CS MKII working.  It ended up being jumpers.  Plus I needed the infamous missing chip.  The jumpers were not an easy thing.  It seemed that different people got theirs working with different jumper settings.  There are threads on here about it.  If you are missing the missing chip pmail me.  I bought 10 to get one.  I will gladly send one or two your way.

Dan

Thanks for the offer, I seem to have this chip installed. Strangely from what I've read, it seems the jumpers were wrong for having this chip installed, so I still suspect jumpers. Do you know what the default jumpers are? I should have the service manual, but it is burried under the mountain atm.

Red, do you have the key? Ifso, is the switch set to unlocked? It should, otherwise the machine will not work. Also, be sure to check the cable (blue) from the key to the motherboard, they tend to come loose. Same thing, cable not connected, non working amiga.

The jumpers for a 3640 are indeed different then for the onboard 030, check amiga.resource.cx for a picture of the motherboard, set the jumpers identical and it should work.

I just got another 3000T-040 which also didn't work, but troubleshooting it was a little more difficult because it has no 030 onboard. Finally got her running setting the jumpers to INT and using a GVP TRex board.

Good luck, she is one of the most worthy machines to get working again!

Well I'll be dipped in s**t!! I didn't even think about the key

Thanks for the info, good stuff! I'll probably take a night off from new listings to play with the A3000T, see if I can get it working.

The missing chips is a 74F08N, you need this chip to use some boards like A3640.

I haven't had a chance to play with the A3000T between the day job and running the side business. I'll try to get some more pics up tonight if you'd like. I'll probably tinker with it tonight instead of listing more stuff, need a night off

Well, the key appeared to be in the locked position. Unfortunately I put a key in and turned.. And the switch exploded :pissed: I guess I have to bypass this darn thing.

Anyone know how to bypass this switch :-?

Cut and tie the black and red pair or cut and tie the black and yellow pair to bypass the switch?

This is what happened to the switch.
