my 500 project

I have just recieved  an A590 no power supply used an old a500 power supply taped of the white left the no3 pin uc
n0 1 red  n02 grnd  no4 brown I think thats right (howerver what does the white do)
does anybody know what the blinking red fred led  means
and the not lit up wilma led means
all jumpers seem to be set up ok
have run install HD software (old seagate baracuda HD)
prep hd gives bad arg :key  
drive definitions gives no hd installed this is self explanitory
considering the previous
baracuda does not seem to make any noises
have checked power to it checks ok orange black yellow.
also what does this tell us about the A590

I thought the A590 used it's own power supply with a round connector; not sure how you could use a A500 supply with it.

What I can tell you is the ROMs on your board are old (Version 6.x), so you are going to have trouble with any scsi drive over 500Mb (iirc 1Gb was the max. limit with 6.6 roms).  Your barracuda might simply be too big to work with HDToolbox and the A590.  Upgrade to Rev.7 roms.

you are correct about the a500 connection i used a round 4pin din omitted to say that thanx for info abot the roms
i have a fujitsu 45 meg hard drive im trying at the mo
any idea what shold happen on the prep hard drive
the hard drive spins but i get a message sying that i should check the hard ware
red led power flickers then becomes stable
green led  hard drive comes on momentarily and then off
green led on the hard drive flickers continuosly  :-?
also would it be possible to remove the ram from a dead 500 mother board and putit into a workink one an thus increase the ram?
