My lovely Amiga 3000!!! - The photos
« on: October 11, 2008, 12:16:12 PM »
Ciao,

first of all I would like to thank Starfighter (Alessandro), a friend and obviously an Amiga fan.
The backplate for the Toccata was an Alessandro idea sometime ago. I only expanded it for the SCSI! :-)
And now the photos!!! 8-)

This is the general view of the Amiga with the SCSI case!
Please note that the owl is essential!
Normally on the top of the A3000 there is my printer (a LaserJet 5MP... just to remain vintage)... obvously with a small carpet (I hope the word is correct) between the two so that the rubber foot of the printer don't ruin the top of the Amiga! :-(
You cannot see the keyboard and the mouse since, as I wrote in my previous post, they are connected to an external switch!

The small black cable is to connect my HP48 to the PC...

Two views of the A3000 only (sorry for the quality... I am not a true photographer!)

A closeup of the two floppies! :-)
Which one is the LS-120? :-D

A backview!
Here you can see the two cables, keyboard and mouse, that go to the switch! And the VGA cable that goes to its own switch (I separated the two since for some Amiga I need two VGA connectors...).

A closeup of the connectors... a not so good photo but you can see everything! :-)

Some notes:
* I have a switch for keyboards and mice: A3000 and the two A1200 right now, but it's for 4 units;
* I have a switch for VGAs: A3000; 2×A1200 (Voodoo and standard A1200 output with SD/FF), 1×A1200 (in this case I use a Picasso II that is passthrough), 1×Asus B202 (near to come... this is not so vintage! :-)), this is for 8 units;
* a Behringer 1202FX: a true mixer for all the computers in my desk!!! It's cheap and great!!! Recommended!!! 12 inputs (4 stereo and 4 mono... I made 4 "stereo to mono" adaptors);
* now I would also like to buy a small hub 10/100/1000 to connect all the Amiga in an Intranet! And I already checked that I can use Samba to connect them (I only checked one Amiga but I think it works for all!) with my NAS!!! TRY IT!!! You can see ALL the space!!! How to say: half terabyte on the Amiga!!!

I think that's all, always hoping... Amiga forver! :lol:

Looks awesome!

Definately think that the 3000 is Commodore/Amiga's "masterpiece".

Thanks,

now I would also like to buy a small hub 10/100/1000 to connect all the Amiga

I'd advise against using a hub. Back in the days of yore, it'd be great, but nowadays they really suck. This is becasue they slow down to the slowest connection on the block. So, if you plug in 15 100Mbps devices, and a single 10Mbps Ami, then everything slows to 10Mbps.

What you want is a switch (I use a D-Link DSS-8+) with eight ports. Judging from your collection there, it seems likely that at some point you'll be using high speed cable with a router (most DSL modems now have built-in routers), and having the extra switch for wired connections really helps. Also, a switch will automatically sense the type and speed of each connection to make sure all 10s run at 10 and 100s run at 100. No slowdowns.

Which will be handy if you connect any Macs or PCs to the network.

Just sayin'...

You can notice on the right drive, on the right of it, the typical metallic guide of an LS-120.

YES! You are right... I meant what write but I would search for a hub! :-(
Thanx for the correction!!!
I have 3 PC @ 1000, 1 Amiga @ 100 and 2 Amigas @ 10... it would have been a big mess!!!

Having owned every Amiga the A3000 was damn near perfect. The 3000T was the A3000D with all the expansion space you could need.

AGA and 16 bit audio dsp with a grpahics card option at launch would have made it a MAC/PC killer IMHO.

I actually guessed the right one. Not because of any differences I might have seen but because, as far as I know, the 3000 always had the floppy mounted in the left slot when it left the factory.  :-)

Nononono... this is no good! You tried to cheat! :-)
Anyway you are right... Obviously I had to unmount the HW for all my mod, and I do not know why I put the LS-120 on the right. :-o I found this position more natural... funny...
