Executive summary: If you follow the procedure and you're willing to wait for the money to come back to you, you can get 30% off a lot of items at ebay. And it appears that red's ebay store qualifies. :-o
I also have a severe woodworking addition. And this has been passed around the woodworking forums for a bit.
Here's the catch: You have to have a microsoft live account. It's free and doesn't seem to be very intrusive. I somehow had one already. You also have to have an ebay and paypal account. And you have to be willing to wait 60 days for your money to come back to your paypal account. You can get a check out of paypal later which I think takes 14 days or so. You're allowed to do this 6 times. And the discount tops out at $200.
edit: it appears that it's one item per session also. So you might want to log out before buying a second item.
You have to follow these steps:
Go to
www.live.com. This is microsoft's new search engine.
You have to type in something to search for that triggers the right banner ad. I know that typing in "grizzly tools" triggers the right ad. Other things might work. But typing in amiga doesn't work.
After the search returns, there's a banner ad at the top for me (it's at the right for some people iirc) that says "Live search cashback. You may get 30% off with paypal if eligible." Click on it.
When ebay comes up, make sure there's a green graphic at the top that says Microsoft Cashback.
At ebay, at the top where it says find, change it to amiga.
The second hit is red's indivision, click on it.
Click the "buy it now button".
On the next page, there's a continue button. Under it says "You will confirm on the next step." Make sure the green Microsoft Cashback graphic is still there.
The next page should have a box with the same green graphic showing how much you'll get back. It's $53.33 in this case.
Complete the sale.
In a few minutes, you get a message in your ebay account showing the cashback. There's a button in the message that connects you to your microsoft live account.
If you click on this button and log into your live account, it will show $0 as your balance! But this is ok. They get some notification from ebay stores when the sale completes, this is when the numbers show up there, so fret not. It might take a couple days.
After the money is there you can request that it be sent to you. I've not received my money yet because it's too soon for me. If you'd like to read the woodworking forum thread where people have gotten their money back, here's the link. It's on slickdeals also.
