Do you have a CD-RW drive in your Amiga 2000?  If you do, what name brand and model number is it?  What software do you use for reading and what software do you use for writing?

I ONLY want to know about what Amiga 2000 owners have in their machines! I know that Amiga 4000s and the toy Amiga 1200s can easily use CD-RW drives, but that is NOT what I am interested in. I want to know what kind of CD-RW drives people are using in the Flagship of all Amigas, the Amiga 2000.

I am soon to put a 40x Pioneer SCSI CD-ROM in my A2000HD if that counts. Oh, BTW, I don't think that it is fair to call the A1200 a toy, in my opinion it is probably one of the best "classic" Amigas, fast, expandable and above all else, reliable.

@DoomMaster

My A1200T is no toy :-P

The flagship of all amigas was the A3000 / 3000T, IMHO. Well, the unreleased AGA enhanced version would have been awesome if somebody hadn't scrapped it and decided to rush out the 4000 instead.

I dare say an accelerated 2000 with a decent SCSI controller would have no problems with a (SCSI) CDRW.

To adz:

Most professionals consider the Amiga models 500, 500+, 600 and 1200 to be nothing more then toys.  The professional and much nicer Amigas are the Amiga 1000, 1500, 2000, 2000HD, 2500, 3000, 3000T, 4000, and 4000T.  Do not be annoyed with me, I am only stating facts.  If your Amiga falls into the toy category, I recommend that you sell it and get yourself a more professional Amiga.  You can still pick up a very nice Amiga 2000HD on eBay for less then $100.00.  You can get an Amiga 3000 for less then $200.00 and an Amiga 4000 for less then $500.00.  Many of the parts from the toy Amigas can be used on the professional Amigas.   :-D

@DoomMaster

Sorry for taking this completely off-topic :roll:

I'll agree that the A1200 as sold by C= was designed as a "toy" machine, as it was fairly unexpandable.  But once you add a tower case and busboard it seems just as "professional" to me :-P

To Karlos:

You are wrong!  Many professionals do consider the Amiga models 500, 500+, 600 and 1200 to be nothing more then toys for those people that can not afford the nicer Amigas.  The Amiga 2000 IS the Flagship of all Amigas, because more expansion cards have been produced for it then any other Amiga computer.  Don't get me wrong, the Amiga 3000 and 4000 are very nice computers and are the most powerful of all true Amiga computers, but they are NOT the Flagship Amiga!

Tell that to the people who run professional software on expanded A500's/1200/CD32's and make/made a living from them...

Hell even the C64 was used professionally not that long ago

but they are NOT the Flagship Amiga!

Most people think the A3000 T model is the flagship.

And please try to lose some of your agressive tone, sometimes you make it look it's your way or no way at all...

@Doommaster,

It might be your nick, but statements like "you are wrong!" can come over as agressive.. And offcourse stating that A500/1200 are toys, well why don't you just kick all Amiga owners in the n*ts  :-D

Anyway, if it weren't for the A500 we may never have seen any other "Big Box" Amiga (or any other for that matter) after the A2000...  ;-)
