Anyway. Try replacing the LED, maybe you broke it (not likely, but hey). You could try swapping the PCBs over, unless of course that was what was wrong with the original drive.
As DoomMaster said, on the new FloppyDrive PCB, isn't intalled the SMD resistor that pull the power to the led.
Misure the voltage on one of the two pads on PCB that carries the power (maybe 5 volt).
Install a 330 Ohm 1/8 watt and then test the output voltage that should be near 3 volts.
Now solder the LED in the right way (leds are polaryzed).
