What screenmode? RGB Video- Scart on LCD TV
« on: September 28, 2008, 03:07:17 PM »
Hi all,

I've now got my A1200 connected up to my Samsung LE26A LCD TV via an RGB video out (+phono audio) to the RGB scart input on the TV.

The picture is very crisp and sharp (especially with edge enhancing etc switched on).

The only problem I'm having is with PAL interlaced screenmodes on workbench screens.

I was hoping to use the PAL Super HI-Res 1280x512 screenmode on the widescreen monitor, extended to fit with overscan.

The picture displayed is flicker free and very crisp, except that the image "wobbles" from left to right every other second.

Interestingly, if I use NTSC Super HI-Res 1280x400, then overscan it to fit, there is no flicker, but the screen is ever so slightly fuzzy (but not significantly so...) Is there any specific reason I shouldn't use this screenmode?

I'm only really wanting to use the Amiga to run WHDLoad games and do a wee bit of tinkering here and there, so I don't really need a super crisp display.

Can anyone tell me if there is a specific monitor driver I should be using in DEVS to achieve the best picture?

Cheers,

AndyC

Hi,

Actually my experience with LCD screens displaying video screen modes is so bad that I only use them for VGA or television.  Therefore I can't help you unfortunately - if you can be helped at all !
