Amiga 500 - midi glitch
« on: August 27, 2003, 07:17:24 AM »
Hi guys- I mentioned some time ago about my midi and sound not working properly on my A500- so I got a new PSU which fixed the sound problem...  However, MIDI is not behaving as it should...

I managed to get some response from MIDI IN... but so far have had no luck outputting from the Amiga to the keyboard...   would this be related to the PSU or something more difficult?

Cheers for the help,
RW

Do you have a multimeter?

Otherwise - if you have a serial cable. you could try to transfer data between it and another machine, such as a PC
I like Amigas

@Redwarrior

If you use more than a 4 color WorkBench you will have problems with the serial port.

If you do suspect the serial port being bad you can try the old swap CIA chips trick.

Do you have a midi device (translator) connected to keyboard/sound module, they could be at fault.

My relatively new Yamaha keyboard has never missed a note, but when I attached my Grandfathers older keyboard recently (made by GEM) it skipped notes frequently.

It was very annoying cos some of the sounds were much better, and it had reverb effects and stuff.

So test it with other midi instruments, that's all I can think of...
AKA ED-209 on IRC...

That's odd, I never had any problems with my old 1meg A600 in that respect. Is that an OCS/A500 specific problem or what?
