Nope, if I would have known it would take this long I would have kept my mouth shut for a while. They are there, there are just many layers involved. Meaning, not just one person to deal with, but multiple. It should all work out in the end.

I already have an A4000T, but I am still tempted, such is the attraction of a NOS Tower!

Ok, I am getting some more solid information.

New in box base units, just like the day it rolled off the assembly line in the late 90's:
040 25mhz
2mb chip ram
no hard drive
scsi built in
all manuals
keyboard
OS 3.1

There seems to be maybe 2 dozen units, less than I expected. Quickpak 060 cards are separate and only a handful exist, maybe 3. The prices are also higher than I expected, my contacts are playing a little bit of hardball. I suspect the final price may turn a few people off, but we'll see. Hope to have more info soon.

Too bad they are not 060s...
But a new a4000 would still be very cool!

Something for everyone to consider here (and it's just my opinion):  *IF* this is all the last generation of QuikPak stuff (powertower and A4060 card) this may be how the stuff shipped to dealers since (I would speculate) QuikPack was looking to generate as much money as possible (since they lost the court case).

I wish Jim luck on this endeavor.

EDIT - In case anyone is curious about the QuikPak 4060 card.

I suspect your contact's name might start with the letter "J".  8-)  ;-)

I think you might have gotten a lot of us all worked up for nothing, but hope not.

When do you think you will have the pricing?

Edit: Please tell me it won't be $1,999
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

This is just totally awesome! I can't imagine anyone storing more than 20 of these machines for ten years... I'd love to get one, but sadly that wouldn't make too much sense.

Oh, just for the record: it's easy to change an NTSC unit to PAL for most purposes, but for 100% compatibility (video/genlocking) the chipset oscillator must be changed as well: PAL requires 28.37516 MHz while NTSC runs on 28.63636 MHz.  ;-)

RED, AFAIK A4000T motherboards were designed to use LiH alkaline barrel batteries that were prone to leaking, just like A500+, A3000 & A4000D. If they have never been touched since they were manufactured in the late 90's I'd bet money that most have leaked. I would find out what condition they are in before buying.

I think the QuickPaks were supposed to be some of the few that used Lithium coin-cells, luckily for Red and everyone else.  Otherwise there'd probably a couple dozen pretty cases with wrecked boards inside.

Definitely worth popping a few open to be sure, though.
3 Commodore file cabinets, 2 Commodore USB turntables, 1 AmigaWorld beer mug
