The CD1200 project has begun
« on: August 27, 2003, 12:16:22 AM »
You may remember a while ago on here, after Jaruzel posted his Sparc-cased A1200 D, I announced I wanted to do something cool with an A1200, and later decided to create a CDTV style system by putting an A1200 into a Hi-Fi CD player case.

Well, i've started the project. Its got a long way to go, but once it is done I will write a full report on how I did everything.

Until then, as a picture paints 1000 words,  i've decided to post the pictures I take on my website, as I work on the project.

Go here to have a look.

That's not exactly a 'CD1200' though, is it? ;-)

@piru

Kind of, except that mine will have an LCD, and all the original buttons will work.

Its an A1200, in a CD case, with a CD player, CD player controls, and custom CD player software. How much more "CD1200" can it be?  :-?

@xeron

The CD1200 was a product in mid-development at Commodore which added a CD-32 like CD-bay on the size of the 1200.  Take a look:  http://amiga.emugaming.com/cd1200.html

@Downix

I know that, but as it wasn't released, and because I can't think of anything catchier, i'm hijacking that title for my own use.

What's wrong with the name: '1200CD' ? It hasn't been used, even in vapourware.

@kd7ota

I think I might have it's schematics somewhere.  But no point, it was next to worthless.
