Picasso IV displaying in purple
« on: September 14, 2008, 01:38:39 AM »
Hi,

I originally had this in my A2000 in around '96 and it worked great for awhile then I put the A2000 away. Last year I pulled it out and it worked for awhile then I started getting a purple display. Thinking my Denise chip was at fault I moved the card to the A3000. It was working great for a bit then it started getting a purple tinted display. I thought I had it narrowed down to a short in the SD/FF cable, since with the A2000 I had to break off the video board to the video slot. Anyway, after adjusting, checking connections it was working before I stopped using the 3000 about 6 months ago.

Recently I got an A4000 and put it in that and worked for a time but now the purple display is back and I can't seem to get rid of it now.

It's there at the early startup menu and at workbench at 1024x768 in P96 display.

I have tried removing the SD/FF and not having that hooked up at all and just booting into a P96 display.

I've reset the card to factory default using the card's setup menu.

I've moved the card to different Zorro slots.

Has my video chip got a fault with one of the colors and that's what is causing my display to be purple?

Anyone else had this problem and has a solution?

Thanks!

Edit: BTW, it's not the monitor. I've hooked up my A1200 tower to it with no problems and at higher resolutions with the Voodoo 3000. This is on a Dell 2405FPW. I also have other PCs with VGA outputs and this problem doesn't come up.

I believe you press the shift key to get into the early menu.

Check this site for tons of info:

As for the purple, it sounds really strange. Do you have a screenshot?

Yes I've reset the card using the early menu by pressing the shift key.

I have no way of making a screenshot.

But thanks for posting that website, I had forgotten about it.

It also gave me a reason why my A4000 was crashing after installing the Fastlane Z3 because of the buster -11 bug when using the P4 and the $1 revision.

No problem!

By screenshot I meant taking a photo..

As for the Fastlane bit: come again?? Can you elaborate about crashing and the Buster-11 bug? Is this only when you have the PIV inserted and the Fastlane?

EDIT:
I just read the page I linked to. No need to clarify.
