hi res pointer on ECS ?
« on: August 26, 2008, 12:36:39 AM »
Hey,

Is there any way to get a hi res laced mouse pointer on an ECS machine?
I looked on aminet but just found pointers for AGA I guess? Is there a hack of some kind?
I'm running 3.1 on an Amiga 3K

I'm pretty sure only AGA had Hi-Res sprites...

And what about the A500s that are equipped with 2mb CHIP mem and HiRes-Denise (like my old A500)?
All the best,

I honestly thought it was with AGA that Hi-Res Sprites were added... I've never seen them on ECS before, and certainly none of my ECS documentation refers to them.
Do you have link for me to ref?

Piru?

The ECS sprite resolutions are hard coded to correspond to the horizontal resolution of the screen.  For low and high resolution the sprites are low-res.  For super-high resolution 4-color mode the sprites are high-resolution.

In AGA you could program the resolutions of the sprites depending on the fetch rate of the chipset.  This made the difference that you might have expected.
