Has anyone played this game? If so, what do you think of it and what spec is your Amiga?

I keep meaning to buy this but put it off and then forget all about it.

I've only played the game for a short while, it was fun enough.

Here's a link to the Payback demo:

I tried the demo version briefly. It ran fairly well on a 640x480 P96 screen (don't remember if I used 8bit or 16bit). Not amazing framerate, but quite playable. I ran it on the machine in my sig.

I have it and it runs quite ok on PPC and Warp3D. It's fun then also but I ran it on 68k and without W3D and it ran like crap; then it's no fun...

Try the demo to see if the performnace it any good on your system. If it is then it's a great game!

I had A3000 w/ CSPPC (ppc 233, 060 66Mhz) and Prometheus w/ Voodoo 3 3000 at the time. The WOS version with W3d was amazing. You could max everything out including the perspective change mode and it would fly. Even 680x0 mode would fly ith Warp3D with 800x600+ just not the perspective change mode.

BTW: Great game! I'm not a GTA player so I can't compare the 2, as others might. Payback is VERY addictive! The gameplay is nonlinear, so it can be different every time you play it. Rampage mode is a lot of fun too! The only shame is they never made internet multiplayer mode.

I've played it a lot on my a1200 with blizzppc603 240Mhz / 060 and it's really great fun. And you can even design / upload more tracks, if you have the time.

It's a pretty sweet Amiga game, definitely a must. I played it several years ago on a heavily tweaked A1200/AGA/BLizz 060 system, and it actually ran fairly well.

If you haven't spent much time playing GTA, it will be even more fun and addicting.

I just tried the deom on my A4000 with CV64 3D and Warp engine 040 @ 40MHz. I can't remember the resolutions I tried, the lowest and second lowest CV3D resolutions that were available in the setup. On the seond lowest it was a little jerky, on the lowest it had smooth scrolling but the graphics were not the prettiest. I would say you would want a 060 and a GFX card to enjoy this game.

Anyone tried it on Amiga Forever? I don't have it, but am thinking it is the way to go for games like this and Napalm if you don't have a 060. Or lets hope that the Natami team pull through.
