FroggerNG
« on: August 16, 2008, 05:00:43 PM »
rogeN 68k crashes on me;

I have OS 3.9 with boing bag 1.
AHI v6.0.
3ivx
divx

A2000 68030 with 36mb ram.

Nothing else crashes and I use a lot of software.

both libraries are copied into libs: as well as being in the frogger folder.
the codecs_68k folder is in the frogger folder.

The message is:
Video decoder - program failed - suspend/reboot.

 :-?

Try running SnoopDOS to see what it is trying to do. Check the versions of any files it successfully opens against what the software requires, and obtain any files it fails to open.

Truly, you are a life saver.
SnoopDOS is the best. Thanks.

It could not find cgxvideo.library.
I checked the original archive and this library did not install, or perhaps the upgrade to boing bag 1 deleted it.
I don't know.
I copied it over.

It also is failing to find a file called .codecs.
Then all of the tooltypes fail (maybe because I'm not using any).

What needs to be in .codecs?
Can someone post there .codecs file?

 :-D

You're welcome! I don't know what the file ".codecs" is, but usually files prefixed with a . are configuration files (at least in Linux/Unix/BSD they are). So this file is probably a configuration file for the codecs which are available. If it works without it, then I wouldn't worry too much. It probably gets created automatically when you save some preferences for the codec.

I'm a Linux man. I understand DOT files.
 :-D

I created the file .docdecs for giggles and .prefs also.
I also created the tooltype WINDOW.

It fails on tooltypes not used only.
It got past all of the other missing files, but still crashes.

I think the .codecs file might have to have a pointer or path to the codecs. The instructions say to drop the codecs_68k folder in the frogger folder and that is enough.

Maybe cybergraphics needs a re-install.

Something is looking for screennotify.library.
What is this library?
OS 3.9?

It is not there.

Seems like maybe MUI is looking for it.

It's not critical for system functionality.

Just because some file doesn't open and shows up in SnoopDOS doesn't mean it necessarily is an error.

screennotify.library allows applications to get notify messages when Workbench screen is about to close/open, allowing the applications to "get out of the way", and reopen again.

http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/ScreenNotify10

You can install the library, but it won't fix your problem with FroggerNG.

Why don't you install BB2 and unofficial BB3?
(Maybe the missing BB2 is causing you troubles)
