Overclocking an FPU by 100% is a little bit hefty. I can belive that it might have worked for the original creator of this hack by pure luck just because some chips can actually take this amount of torture without freaking out.

I have read through the reasoning why it should work without any problem and I guess the guy must have gotten something wrong. Motorola would never have checked all FPUs at double it's nominated speed and then sell it for half of it. I they could have made faster chips (up to 100 MHz is mentioned) they would have sold faster chips.
This must have been some confusion with clock doubleing or something that lead to his assumption.

The bottomline is: He was just lucky.
Usually 50% of the 25 MHz rated FPU go bonkers already at 33 MHz, about 10-20 % make it up to 40 MHz. Only verry few will run stable or at all at 50 MHz especially in a PLCC housing with it's bad heat transportation capeabilities.

If you haven't had your A3000 on for to long you might not have cooked your 68882.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

I succesfully did the 50mhz hack on 2 of my A3000's many years ago. (heat sink also recommended).

Try taking the hack off and hopefully the Ami will boot again.
