WordWorth7 -can't see the text
« on: August 09, 2008, 03:09:17 AM »
Hi. I have an A4000, OS3.9 b1+b2, '060, Cybergraphx4 card,
but when I try to run WordWorth7, no text is visible on
my ViewSonic 17" monitor.
The cursor moves around but I can't see any text.
Please help.

You didn't mention having hit any keys. Maybe your power cord is not plugged in. Did you blow on the connector? You have to turn it past 5 minutes for it to work.

It's been a while now, but I'm pretty sure that I just removed the brackets from PICASSO=TRUE to solve this problem :-)

Of course, that only works if he has a graphics card  :-o

Another suggestion is to make sure the text colour is not set to white, accidentally   :crazy:

That's a weird oddity, though. Why would a graphics card screw with the text?

@weirdami
I believe the default rendering uses the Amiga blitter to speed the text display. Obviously, the Amiga blitter won't do anything on the graphics boards display. An AmigaBlitter=TRUE tooltype would be more logical today. RTG=TRUE would have been better than PICASSO=TRUE too.

@all
I believe there is a setting to select simple refresh over smart refresh which will speed screen updating up noticeably with a gfx card. Always set simple refresh on gfx board screens for the fastest screen updates.

Looks like an excuse to fire up an A4000, install Wordworth7 and double check this ;-)

The install actually asks "Do you have a Picasso or similar GFX card?". So I guess that the brackets are initially set according to your answer.

(PICASSO=TRUE)

PICASSO=TRUE

you can also try changing the screen mode to a different color depth eg 256 colors
