A2000 floppy carked
« on: August 07, 2008, 06:04:43 AM »
The floppy on my 2000 was intermittent, the drive stopped and stuttered. I had a go at improving but no luck.

Has not been used for a very long time.

Will a conventional floppy work in the Amiga?

cheers

Dennis

What do you mean by "conventional"? If you mean a PC drive, then the answer is no unless you modify it. There are many guides on the net how to do so for different models.

As I said, a PC drive has to be modified (soldering required). Not all drives can be modded, only those which have a READY signal somewhere on their PCB. It's also possible to do a "cable hack" that simulates the READY signal, like the one described here.
