Is there a way to convert Amiga RGB to SVGA?

Hello,

Is there a way to convert the Amiga 2000 RGB video out to SVGA?  I'd love to be able to use a standard "PC monitor" with my old Amiga.

I have seen devices that will convert the composite video (RCA) output to SVGA, but that signal is inferior (monochrome?) to the RGB signal.

I know that it would have to be an active device doing the conversion since it involves more than just adapting the connectors...

Yes, it's called a scandoubler/flicker fixer or SD/FF for short.  They are rare and expensive.  You  may be able to find one at amigakit.com or at softhut.

The $27 unit is just a cable adapter.  It requires the Amiga to run at twice the horizontal scan rates and won't work for most software.

The Indivision AGA only works on the A1200 although an A4000-compatible unit may follow if sales are good.

You're better off signing up for the waiting list for a cheap 16-bit scandoubler if you plan on using it with an A2000.

For $65 + S&H, this would be a very nice answer to the "problem"!  I guess the only down side is that you may have to wait a bit if his order list is indeed long (getting longer).

Hello everyone,

I am ready to take orders. One to a customer please and first come first served. Price is $65 USD plus shipping.

You should be aware it might take some time to get to everyone. I make about three every two weeks. It is a hobby for me and I do my best work when I don't rush it. What that means is while some may get their converters soon others will have to wait through a long hot summer.
I have tried to pick an enclosure which matches the A500 in color and style. I have also managed to make the cable long enough for most setups without introducing any significant video signal noise.
