Selling Amiga 1200
« on: July 30, 2008, 12:29:56 AM »
I have an Amiga A1200 I would like to sell.

It has 8mb memory expansion, a Dataflyer SCSI card inside, a 4.3gb HD w/ WB 3.1 installed.

I also have a DSS 8 Sound Sampler (8 bit), a 1084S monitor whos power button is stuck in the On position, but it works great!

I have tons of disks, an external floppy drive, a working Amiga mouse, and the PSU.

I'm asking 200$ for the Amiga, or 250$ if you want the monitor.   I am located in Ohio (USA)

email me @ dancethetango50@yahoo.com for questions, or pictures!

thanks!
I am a negative, rude, prick.

Tired of it so quickly huh? :-P   Well, dealing with old Amiga hardware can be a bit messy I agree, but it's still great for playing games.   ;-)

eh.  It just sits here, useless.  Transfers are a pain, WHDLoad and such aren't my thing, and the C programming is the same ol' same ol'.

and in terms of music, my PC does the same, only better....  so, it's just taking up desk space that I would like to replace with something else.  :)

You want it klx!?

So I take it this means you don't want the HD you asked me to prepare for you? Do you have any idea what a PITA it is to copy 4+ GB of WHDLoad installs over to a hard disk? Slow and monotonous. ARGH.
Call me Golan; my parents did.

Well, no offense I'm kind of tired of waiting around for it to happen... since others have told me it really shouldn't take like, 2+ weeks.... considering you've got time to sit on IRC, or post on Lemon and stuff.   I haven't heard anything from you about it via email or me asking on IRC.

If you still want that Toshiba, how's 100$ sound.  That seems to be about what the value of the stuff you were going to trade is worth.

kind of like that Atari person you told me to wait about.  People don't like to be left hanging for stuff to happen.

Ive turned my attention more to the C64, and the MSX :-D

Don't your "PC" do better than those, too?

He isn't going to like them either.  He'd be far better off with a hard drive full of emulators so he can just get the retro experience without having to buy the hardware.  Retro computers aren't different to modern computers they're the ancestors of modern computers, they are the same but simpler.  MSX and C64 really don't have an OS, they just have a program loader...

hey uh, persia, I have a 2x C64 setup I use to make music and play games on. By "more attention" I mean, I set up a C programming environment on it.  In fact, I like them more than the Amiga. Way more.

and as far as MSX, I've used/owned them before...they're like PC-Engines, with a keyboard.  I'm more into the Japanese gaming scene than the Western gaming scene.  (I'm big on the Turbo Grafx/PC Engine)

Know what you're talking about before you go yammering your nonsense

And, my PC doesn't run Prophet 64 and dual SID MIDI setups better... and it doesn't really do MSX music better either.  Games, probably.  Music, nooooo. :).

a PC certainly handles tracking/sampling way better/easier than an Amiga.  It is alot easier to grab .wavs and store them on a PC.  Trackers themselves are easier nowadays.  Its just the way things turned out.

man.  All I want to do is try selling a computer I'm no longer interested in, and everyones got to jump my {bleep}.

Ok, your SID midi interest makes you a bona-fide retroscomputer enthusiast.  Also your interest in a non-object oriented programming language like C adds to to retro-qualifications.  I hearby prclaim you stuck in the eights with the rest of us.  Just be kind to the the Amiga on an Amiga board!

Yeah... and I do ML/Assembly... BASIC, Tracking, gaming....

One of my big retro hobbies is the Turbo Grafx-16 which is why I'm now turning my attention towards the MSX more.

I just didn't get what I wanted out of the Amiga.  I don't do any graphics or video stuff, and most of the games I like are ported elsewhere so it's somewhat of a lost cause.

anyway, I put the thing up on eBay.

Not everyone is getting on your case ... You tried the Amiga, found it not to your liking so getting rid of it.

Good luck with both the auction and your future endeavors and thank you for participating in the forum   :-)
