CyberVision64 3D
« on: July 27, 2008, 11:10:50 AM »
Hey,

I have Cybervision64 3D card here built by DCE that has problems.

It's symptoms:

When the CyberGraphx bootpicture shows, it most of the time has grey pixels in it. I then go into Workbench via AGA but most of the times it crashes before that.
Sometimes there is no CyberGraphx picture but a grey screen after which it crashes immediatly.

When I do end up in Workbench and try to select a Cybervision screenmode it crashes almost immediatly. Sometimes it shows a Workbench screen for a second which then also has a lot of pixel problems.

I have had a Phase5 Cybervision 3D in which worked flawless.

Sometimes I have the idea that bending the card a little bit correct some problems like no grey pixels in the bootpicture but I have never had a working screenmode.

What do you think? Fixable or dead beyond repair?

Have any of you had the same problems?

I never heard of capacitors being the problem on this card. YMMV.

Bending usually points to bad solder joints.

And "loose" pixels around the screen usually means bad memory chips or bad power supply to the card.

Check the solder joints on the Amiga video slot and take out/reinsert the CPLD chip (the socketed one, of course).

If no good, probably one of the memory chips are going south. Time to travel...
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
