My Amiga 1200 Tower
« on: July 23, 2008, 05:29:47 PM »
Hi!
I have my 1200 installed in a Power Tower with following specs:

Apollo 1240@40mhz
Winner Zorro IV Busboard
Xsurf 2
Repulse
Piccolo
Kickstart 3.1
32mb Ram

My OS 3.9 install is f***ed up and my install boot disk has died on me.

I wanna install OS 3.9 but with no disk its hard. I still have the cd though.

What i wonder about is:
-How to install os 3.9 using Winaue?
-Will everything become faster with a Budda Flash Gold MKII?
-Can i Boot from CD if i get the Budda?
-How to i connect another simm socket to my Apollo?
-Can i use a a2091 scsi card in my setup?
-Can i dual boot with linux and os 3.9?
-Can i only use a Budda or do the main disk have to be connected to the ide port on the Mainboard?
-Can i connect a differt fan and a heatsink to the cpu on the Apollo, if yes how?

I have no intention on getting a ppc or a mediator because they are insanely expensive!

How do i attach a fan and heatsink to the cpu? Thermal paste is enough to get it to hold?

My google skills seems to suck at this time, but how do i solder the simm socket to the card?....Great to have some help instead of just single word answers

I think thermal paste is not good enough, you should get thermal glue, or a heatsink that already has doublesided thermal adhesive.
IIRC, you can install OS3.9 from HDD, using virtual drive or playing with assign. I'd install 3.1 first.
