Whatever happened to these scan doublers?
« on: July 20, 2008, 11:47:23 AM »
http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47197

I cant find my original emails/private messages to the maker. I've got 3000 emails in my inbox and cant find his address with searches such as "order" or "scan doubler". He was going to be making about 2-3 or 3-4 a week by hand. I havent heard back from him though, I wonder if he has given up?

The last word I had was the build rate was 4-6 a month with a backorder log of around 60 requests. Roy is still building these, just very swamped with orders.

wonder if it would be possible to order a complete unassembled scandoubler from him? It would take some load of his shoulders...

I ordered back when Roy was producing his Atari ST scan doublers units (very professionally made and packaged), and it took several months before I received it.

Roy is a dedicated and hard working guy, and I believe he would have reported to everybody that the project had gotten outside his scope of ability to complete.

Thanks to everybody that supports folks like Jens, Georg, Dennis, Roy, thedaddy, and many others who are actively keeping the Amiga scene alive.  I salute you all!

Roy replied with this email:

Yes, I am still making them but I am having noise
problems with the PAL version of the unit right now.

So I am delaying release of the PAL unit until I sort
this problem out. I will let you know when that
happens....

He gave me permission to paste this email for you guys.
