Addhard drivers needed
« on: July 19, 2008, 01:06:55 AM »
 Hello people.

I gladly have gifted with a Addhard SCSI controller. The board came today, then I put a SCSI-II 9.1Gb on it, fire the A500 (my A500+ is too far away...) and... nothing, nada, zilch, niente!:headwall:

Anyone here can point me a location for the disk drivers? Amiga Installer's Heaven don't have it, neither Aminet...

 Thanks in advance.

BTW: here is a picture of the device.

According to this page the controller is supposed to autoboot. This means there are no separate drivers. There must be a ROM on the board which has the drivers built-in.

Perhaps the drive is too big for the controller. Or you didn't set the jumpers correctly. Did you terminate the SCSI bus ?

The Amiga cannot access more than 4GB anyway, so it's needless to use such a big drive.

Bye,
Thomas

what do you mean by nothing ? a500 do not boot at all ? or it boots but no sign of life from hdd ?

as thomas said, if it supports autoboot, then you don:t need any drivers. you should boot via floppy, check if addhard.device (or whatever its called) is around, fire hdinsttools with this device, see if scsi hdd is recognised on the chain, and partition as you like.

 Thanks Thomas and Coze.

Yep, the drive don't show up. I think this happened due the lack of an install disk...

 Will try "sysinfo" the Amiga.

The drive is self-terminated and unique (so no need for terminators). But I have a pair of T1 and T2 here (no one of them resembles Arnie...). Active and passives (hmm... gay!).

Since the controller use a NCR53C80 (no jumpers inside the case), I think the "9.1Gb HD + ROM code" combination could be the problem. :-/
