no display on a4000
« on: July 13, 2008, 07:05:49 PM »
I booted up my a4000 today and there appears to be no display.

All I am getting is a white screen.  I have tried a couple of different scart leads and tvs.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and if it is fixable?

Thanks for any help.

Is your CPU card seated fully? Also, check to make sure all RAM CHIP/FAST is seated well.

With power off obviously and with you grounded.

EDIT: After that try to boot with both mouse buttons down and see if you get the early boot menu.
I think, Therefore - Amiga....

Tried that now thanks for the advice, however it has not changed anything.

All that happens is a bright white screen.

Arrrggghh I think I have broken my a4000 trying to install a cd drive!!

Anyone have any suggestions or is it royally f**ked.

Are your master/slave settings ok?
Have you tried to unplug the cd-rom drive?

I hope you bring her back to life :-)

Depending on how the floppy is reacting (or not) you might have lost one of the CIA chips. What type of CPU card do you have? Some versions of the A3640's are notorious at failing because of a manufacturing error with the caps.
