Selling my stuff
« on: July 12, 2008, 10:07:56 PM »
Hi people.
I just want to get some feedback on something.
I have been a loyal amiga fan since the a500 came out.
Now i never have time to use my amiga,i always say to myself,
"i will catch up later in life, when the kids are older"
But inside i really know it is a big fat lie,and every piece
of amiga gear i own is just getting older.
So,i want to sell it all.(not really)
I was wondering,
what is the best place to do such a thing.
Is it better to sell it all in one piece?..or
chop it up a thing at a time?
I have many thingd i have collectewd over the years, and
virtually hundreds of magazines..
Anyone care to comment to this one?

Magazines are very hard to get rid of, I have thrown hundreds of them on the local city dump as nobody was even remotely interested, not even for free !! The same goes for floppies, everytime I offer them for free pickup I get absolutely no response.
About the real hardware, Ebay is the place to get some fine prices, though they are not always the same. If you´re going the Ebay way then be sure to offer worldwide shipping at a reasonable price  :-)

Amibay would be your best shot. Free to register and loads of people go there for buying and selling stuff.

Link

*Addendum* somebody on Amibay is in the hunt for a C64 so you could already have a sale there  :-)

TBH splitting up a large collection is the way to go.

You'll get the most interest and the best prices.

Amibay is an alternative to eBay, no listing or final value fees and a good community. Although it is NOT an auction site and you will have to have an idea of what you want for each item and state that.

Selling in a job lot will mean you have to sell at a bargain price to account for a local pick up and as long as you're not too remote this shouldn't be a problem. Although if it does go in one go then there's no messing about trying to shift hard to move items (like the magazines).

You could always try to donate them to one of the online Amiga projects (Classicamiga being an example.)

Donating the magazines seem like a good idea..
ofcourse, they would have to pay for p&P :)
I think amibay is the best too..i will try some items,
when i have some time off work for
a change! :)
