2003 Sony PS2 based PVR. Japan only.

Never new this even existed.

How confusing! PSX is the original pre-release name for the PSOne. I would have never gotten used to it had it taken off.

It won't have a RF tuner compatible with Europe so you wont be able to pick up / record live Analog TV.

It doesn't have RGB input, or component input, just NTSC composite. So you wont be able to record much, at least not in colour.

It's going to suck really badly.

[Edit: Update]
Ok, it has an SVideo input (NTSC only) so slightly better quality B&W recordings :-)

You would be much better off making your own HTPC with a DVB card.

Just buy a cheap tvtuner/dvb card for your pc and you will have the best pvr ever.
You can even record digital broadcast stream if you have a dvb card, which means there will be zero recompression and no loss of quality. With that PSX box you will both suffer from digital-analog-digital artifacts thanks to conversion from analog to digital and recompression.

Worse. Reports are that PSX-PVR TV capture doesn't work AT ALL with PAL signals. RF, composite and SVideo all reported not to work with PAL even B&W :-(

You have a different kind of electricity, you have a different kind of tv transmission, and you even speak a different language (that includes you too, England) and as I believe it was Buford T. Justice that said, "What we have here, is a failure to communicate."
:-P ;-)

Seriously though, I HATE that's it's so far that we've come technology wise, and yet "standards" barely apply all, to this day.

They can't even agree what is supposed to be displayed in a browser window, based on the 7? versions of HTML and derivatives!!!!!!

So I guess that A500, 600, 1000, 2000, CDTV, CD32, are pure garbage then? Thanks for posting here.
