Installing OS3.9 on a A1200 via WINUAE
« on: June 16, 2008, 01:05:47 AM »
Hi,

As I'm having a few issues with getting my PCMCIA CDROM mounted under WB3.1, I thought I'd try installing OS3.9 via WINUAE.  Anyone got any advice/tips?  Which file system should I use?  I understand that 3.9 comes with a newer file system.  I assume that once I've installed it on my windows based Hard File, I can then mount my Amiga HD and partion the sucker with the new file system before copying the 'System' contents from the hard file to the hard drive.  Will that work ok?

Tried this last night and had some issues running the install from the CD on the hard file.  Are you meant to start it with the 'emergency' disk in the virtual floppy drive so that it can do it's thang?

Ok figured this out myself last night :-D

I found this guide Tom which helped (I didn't have the UAEscsi.device enabled under Misc WINUAE settings).

Just got to installed the Boingy bags and WDHLOAD with some game packs and I'll be good to go

Still haven't quite worked out the best way of partitioning my 'System' drive to use the newer OS3.9 filesystem yet without just wiping it and re-installing but we'll see.

Best way is reserve a 200Mb system partition (300Mb TOPS) and the leftover for Work, Games and other data.

BTW: are you mental ill? You noticed you chat with yourself in thread?

 No offence, m8.
Goodbye people.

Of course I'm crazy, it's a well know fact in most of the forums I frequent.

I was aware that I was talking to myself.........nobody else wanted to talk to me  :boohoo:

Just a tip, when using Thomas walktrough: do not use version 2.12 of lha.run!!!

That 2.12 version have a nasty bug when open large compressed files. Use the old (and reliable) 1.38 version.
