Excellent.

Have you tested any USB network devices for use with EasyNet and the Deneb yet?
A2000, A3000, 2 x A1200T, A1200, A4000Tower & Mediator, CD32, VIC-20, C64, C128, C128D, PET 8032, Minimig & ARM, C-One, FPGA Arcade... and AmigaOne X1000.

Thanks, Matthew.

Darrin, looks like this update has the usbpegaus.device I need to make the Belkin USB to LAN adapters I bought work with the Deneb. I'll give it a go and let you know how I make out.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate it.  I only have ethernet on one of my A1200Ts at the moment (via a PCMCIA card and Easynet from AmigaKit) and I'd like to add it to the A4000 via the Deneb.

Cheers,

Darrin

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here. Under Trident/Poseidon prefs, I see my Belkin network adapter show up on the Deneb just fine. On the EasyNet configuration panel for the network interface, I'm able to select usbpegasus.device. However it says it's not installed and when I click on Install it wants me to point it to the driver file. But I can find no usbpegasus.device file anywhere.

It seems as though I remember reading somewhere that this file doesn't actually exist in Devs: but is generated "on the fly." Or maybe I imagined that.

Anyway, anybody up to pointing me in the right direction? Thanks!

usbpegasus.device is generated as a resident device in memory by Poseidon- it is not a device driver file stored in Networks as other SANA II devices. When EasyNet reports it as not installed, it is simply reporting that fact that it isnt present in DEVS:Networks drawer (nothing to worry about).

No, that's correct. It might take some hex editing of config files to get it recognized with some programs - that's what I had to do for Envoy.

Sorry... got sidetracked by life and couldn't get back to this project for a couple of days.

After telling EasyNet to use usbpegasus.device, when I try to go online I get an error -- "EASYNET: Device driver is offline"

Obviously I haven't set something somewhere. In Trident? My Belkin USB adapter shows up as a "USB to LAN converter" with "pegasus.class" under the Bindings column but a question mark under the Class column. Does that sounds like something's amiss?

Thanks.

Oh, my second Deneb is at the post office. I'll go pick it up tomorrow.

The question mark in Trident is OK- this denotes a proprietry device

You will need to set the speed of the usbpegasus.device and save the settings before going online.

Under EasyNet Interfaces, I see the settings button and that X-Surf is set for 10MB/S Half Duplex.

But when selecting usbpegasus.device, the settings button remains grayed out. Should I be looking somewhere else? Should I physically remove the X-Surf card or does it matter? (I will pull the card and use it in another Amiga anyway.)

Under Trident's settings for the Belkin, the default is set for Auto Negotiation. Don't know whether to change it.

I didn't get to mess with Amigas today, but I'll probably get back to the problem tomorrow evening. I thought I would bump the thread just to say I'm still stuck here with the grayed out settings button, in case anyone has a pointer for me. Thanks in advance for all advice!

You can create a dummy file in DEVS:Networks/usbpegasus.device (e.g. with "echo"), just to satisfy those programs searching for a "real" filesystem based device driver. In any case, the RAM based device will be found first instead.

I've changed some bits regarding the S2_ONLINE behaviour with the upcoming V4.1 release. It seems if the old behaviour works well with Miami/MiamiDx but has some problems with other TCP/IP stacks. Sorry for the inconvenience.
